I updated my Duolingo app for Android this month (October 2024) and then it crashed. Thing is, it didn't show any errors or anything, I would tap on Duolingo, the Duo logo would show up and then a quick yellow window before closing by itself. In a split of a second, the Duolingo app would close as soon as opening it.
Oh man, Google app developers just can't get a break. It's not enough that there are a gazillion apps out there already and the competition is fierce for new apps, but now it just became even more difficult to launch a new app on Google Play. Google thought that the best way to help developers that create a new dev account on Google Play is to force them on having 20 testers test the app for 14 days prior to launch.
First one I started testing is CryptoTab. It's a browser based on Chromium but with built-in mining. It comes with a built-in mining algorithm that allows anyone to mine Bitcoin without expensive hardware or technical knowledge. They have clients available for Windows, Android and iOS. I've tried Cryptotab for Android and it works just like Chromium - the difference is that while you browse it uses some background CPU resources to mine - barely noticeable while browsing. I'm actually fed up with Google Play Support. To my amazement, I've started a support request in 2021 and we're in 2024 but still don't have a resolution. What is that support request that is so difficult to solve? I want to change the country of Google Play from the United States to the one I'm in for the past 4 years. That's right, for the past 4 years I've been in a different country than US, but still cannot switch it from the US to mine.
Google Pixel 9 XL is Google's best phone so far, and probably one of the best Android smartphones available right now on the market. It comes with a new design, most likely done this way to entice even more iPhone users than Android users. Add to that a premium build and a much-improved software experience compared to past models, and what you've got is something that will be at the top of the high-end Android smartphone arena.
