Black Friday is just around the corner, and if you’re looking to score the best deals, you’ll need more than luck on your side because good deals end fast. If you’re on Android, there are a lot of apps designed for Black Friday deal hunting that can help find discounts, get instant alerts, and save time while shopping. Here are some Black Friday apps for Android that I’ve used occasionally and I recommend to use close to the discount season.

Slickdeals

Slickdeals started as a web-app and goes back a long time. It’s the go-to app for deal seekers, if there’s something that’s worth buying with a discount, it’s on Slickdeals first. They are offering real-time notifications on Black Friday discounts (and not limited to it), customizable alerts for specific items, and a community-driven rating system to help you find the hottest deals faster. They have an Android app available on Google Play that you can install to be notified faster.

Key features:

  • Create alerts for products, categories, or brands you want to track and get discounts/deals for.
  • View community-rated deals to spot the most popular discounts. Most deals are sent in by community members.
  • Access curated Black Friday deals and find top-rated savings.

ShopSavvy

ShopSavvy’s barcode scanner and price comparison tool let you check if an item’s Black Friday deal is the best price across both online and in-store options. The app’s alerts notify you when prices drop on items you want. With ShopSavvy you avoid getting tricked by fake Black Friday discounts – you know the type, price increases a few days before the BF day, then a discount is added that brings the price higher than previous levels.

Key features:

  • Instantly compare prices from various retailers with barcode scanning. Incredibly useful when you’re in a store and want to compare prices fast, simply use the Android app to scan the barcode and see other prices for it.
  • Receive price-drop alerts on selected items to find out when your favorite product is truly on discount (not only on Black Friday).
  • Set up custom notifications to monitor deals leading up to Black Friday.

Rakuten

Rakuten is known for its cash-back rewards, offering exclusive Black Friday deals with the added benefit of earning back a percentage of your purchases. You’ll receive notifications for limited-time deals, plus instant cash back when shopping with partner retailers. There’s also a Rakuten TV streaming app but that’s separate.

Key features:

  • Get cash back on purchases from thousands of major stores (US mostly).
  • Access special Black Friday offers with additional savings.
  • Use Rakuten’s alerts to catch limited-time deals and maximize your rewards.

Honey

Honey is widely known for its browser extension more than for its Android app. But they also have an Android app that you can install to find and apply coupon codes at checkout. The app’s “Droplist” feature allows you to track prices for specific items and get alerts when prices drop.

Love the name too, a nightmare to brand, but catchy since it could have so many meanings.

Key features:

  • Automatically apply coupon codes at checkout.
  • Use Droplist to track product prices and receive alerts on discounts.
  • Get deal notifications tailored to your favorite retailers.

Flipp also helps you create shopping lists and save digital coupons. It’s ideal for local shopping for deals and discounts.

Key features:

  • View and compare digital flyers from nearby stores.

DealNews

DealNews is another “dinosaur” in the world of deals and discounts, they’ve been around for so many years now. DN curates the best deals on the internet, including special Black Friday offers from various categories. With its price tracking and alerts, you’ll be notified when discounts become available for products you’re interested in. It also has a powerful community that alerts others when good deals are found.

Key features:

  • Browse curated deals across major categories like electronics, clothing, and home goods.
  • Set up alerts for specific items and be notified when prices drop.
  • Access exclusive Black Friday deals updated in real-time.

Price.com

Last but not least, Price.com combines comparison shopping with price alerts and cash-back rewards, making it a powerful tool for tracking Black Friday deals. Think you’ve found the best price on a Black Friday deal? Head on to price.com and see what that product’s prices are across multiple shopping sites. If you allow it, Price.com will also notify you of the best discounts for it and offer cash-back options (if any are found).

  • Compare prices and track deals across a variety of retailers.
  • Set up price alerts for instant notifications on drops.
  • Earn cash back and discounts through the app’s partner stores.

How to prepare for Black Friday with these apps:

  • Start early – Set up your price alerts and wishlists a few weeks before Black Friday 2024 to track pricing trends and avoid false discounts.
  • Customize notifications – Use each app’s settings to only receive notifications for the items you truly want.
  • Compare prices across apps – To ensure you’re getting the best deal, cross-check prices with different apps, especially if you’re shopping for big-ticket items.
  • Use cash-back and rewards options – Apps like Rakuten and Price.com offer rewards for shopping, adding extra savings on top of Black Friday discounts.

Using these Android apps will help you find the best deals during the Black Friday shopping-galore. However, here’s my opinion on Black Friday and other similar frenzy events. Buy only what you need, not everything that you think you might need. Just because a product has a great price, it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t need it. So plan ahead, make a list of what you truly need, and set up price alert notifications to be announced when the price drops. If you recklessly buy stuff you don’t need, you only help inflation.
