A while back I have reviewed Bridge Constructor Portal, a unique merge of Portal and Bridge Constructor as the name suggests, and it became one of my favourite engineering simulation game. The game is paid but it’s worth every penny of those $4.99 (Android version). If you like games that go beyond mindless tapping and actually require some puzzle solving skills, trust me it’s a game you should have.
I have finished all the levels of the original game (after a while, not that easy) and I’m thrilled to find out that they are releasing a DLC version of the original game called “Bridge Constructor Portal: Portal Proficiency”. The game is not out yet but is planned for release on November 12th, 2019. So, what will be new in this expansion of the Bridge Constructor Portal? Here are a few exciting features:
- 30 new test chambers. The DLC introduces 30 new brain-teasing levels spanning 3 chapters, where you must use your skills to build mind-bending constructions to pass. If you played the original game you know that these test chambers are remarkably unsafe. What’s the final prize for finishing up the game? Well, the bravest and smartest participants will receive the Golden Condolence Letter. You read that right, condolence letter!
- Place portals. The original Portal series of games was so successful partly due to the ability to place portals. The initial version of Bridge Constructor Portal didn’t allow you to place your own portals, instead it had them pre-placed. However, the Portal Proficiency expansion now adds the capability to place your own portals. Just like the real thing!
- Aperture Science labs. Create complex constructions in the new Aperture Science labs and build bridges with your Aperture Science portable quantum tunneling device. That sounds complicated but trust me, the real gameplay exceeds in complexity what you are already imagining.

The “Bridge Constructor Portal: Portal Proficiency” DLC will be available for PC, iOS & Android, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Mac, and Linux on November 12. I’m excited about this and I highly recommend you give it a try. The base game has very positive reviews on every platform it’s listed on, so players truly enjoyed playing it. You can also enjoy some more screenshots from the expansion here:
For those that haven’t played the original game, Bridge Constructor Portal, the story is quite simple. You are a new employee in the Aperture Science test lab and your job is to build bridges, ramps, slides, and other constructions in 60 test chambers. Then, when you think you’re done with a chamber, have the Bendies safely across the finish line in their vehicles. I must admit that part of the fun in the game is seeing those Bendies crash, but in order to advance onto the next test chamber you’ll have to help them cross.
The game includes lots of Portal gadgets (portals, propulsion gel, repulsion gel, aerial faith plates, cubes) and much more, that will help you bypass sentry turrets, acid pools, and laser barriers. And obviously, you’re accompanied everywhere by Ellen McLain, the original voice of GLaDOS. Just a heads up though, GLaDOS might not be the honest robot around.
The price for the expansion wasn’t announced yet, but I believe the Android version will go around the same as the original base game ($4.99). More details to follow on November 12th. Right now there aren’t any Google Play/iOS links as the game isn’t published, but you can visit the dev’s page on Google Play to get the game when it’s out. The Steam url is out though, for PC players:
